hey guys! i know it’s been a while… but here are some cookies i made for a friend’s party. her little girl’s name is ava, so that’s what the “a” is for. it was a princess themed party, hence the crowns. all the little girls were dressed up as princesses! they were soooo adorable.

my nieces especially were adorable ;) i can’t get enough of them! so precioius <3

i hope you can forgive me. i’m trying to become more inspired…but it’s kind of difficult when all i’m doing right now is reading about america’s history..and frankly…it’s extremely boring. i hope to get back to regular posting by the summer!

these cookies were definitely better than my last sugar cookies. the recipe was amazing and really easy. i loved decorating them, as well. it totally reaffirmed by want of owning a bakery:)

this cake has definitely got to be the prettiest cake i’ve ever made. i was actually so proud of myself…hehe. i’m in love with the top. as far as the taste goes, the butterscotch buttercream was the best ever. i feel like my buttercreams are improving. however!, my mixer broke! *sobs* not completely though. just the bottom where it turns.. it doesn’t turn anymore. so making something like a frosting takes forever. and i’m really sad. but anyways. the cake wasn’t that good. it was really thick and dense. to begin with, i’m not really a cake person, and when i do eat cake, it’s usually because it’s nice and fluffy.

hopefully i get back to blogging. :)

forgive me,

jules

hey there. i know i haven’t posted in a long while. at first it was because i was feeling very uninspired. but the past week, my grandpa has been in the hospital, and it’s not looking very good. it’s hard to stay positive, but i’m just trying my best, and praying a lot. so please excuse my absence. i have baked a few things, make a few body scrubs, and trying to get my motivation for piano back. it’s just kind of tough at the moment. so, for music monday, i’m going to pick an old favourite that have been in my head during these tough times.
xx jules.

i personally love smoothies. but i never follow any recipes. i’ve seen a lot on pinterest lately tons of pins with all kinds of smoothies! so i just wanted to show my basic smoothie. and some essentials for a yummy, but beneficial drink.

i love fruit smoothies! and my favourite combination would strawberries and bananas. i also like to add frozen fruit: pinapple, berries, etc. then i add some random greens (because it’s healthy! and more likely to make the smoothie heftier): celery, cucumbers, and swiss chard from my garden. next, i’ll use yogurt, ice, and apple juice, and the simply brand is amazing. i will never drink any other kind now. since i wasn’t at home, i didn’t add everything i would, but usually i’ll put wheat germ and flaxseeds. those are very good for weight loss and a better complexion.

(ps. my brother has the blender called the ninja somethingorother…but it chops up like crazy! it makes the smoothie actually smooth, and i totally recommend it!)

what do you put in your smoothies?:)

i just joined poskmark! it is a site where you can sell your old clothes. it’s like a thrift shop online…*i wanna pop some tags..only got twenty dollars in ma pooccket*…excuse me, i kind of love that song… anyyyways! it seems very easy, so i’m excited to try it out. i was initially going to join storenvy, but that one seems like it’s more for people who have boutiques. i only have a couple of listings so far, but will adding much more! you can shop my closet here:)

i hope you can find something you like! let me know if you make your own, so i can check it out :D

so this is my first attempt at sugar cookies. this past weekend, i had a church convention, so i decided to make some treats for the lunch portion! i made truffles also, but sadly didn’t take pictures. i wanted something simple, that people would like. this recipe (found here) was the best, though.. i wanted ones that would taste like the ones i buy at the supermarket! because those are gooood (they probably have tons of sugar packed in them, too *sigh*). but the royal icing was very delicious!

okay, so the buttercream recipe i’m a about to share with you is amazing! it seriously tastes like vanilla cake mix (mooost likely because i upped the vanilla ante) but without the eggs so you can not feel gross about eating a spoonful!

1/2 cup milk

 a scant 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

 one stick of softened butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/8 cup powder sugar

in a sauce pan, heat  the milk and flour, whisking until you have a paste, and when done, set aside while you work on the following. cream together the butter, granulated sugar and vanilla for 2-3 minutes until the sugar is not really visible . add the flour paste to the bowl and beat for another 3 minutes, or until it begins to get almost like whipped cream. add the powder sugar and beat until well incorporated. i put mine in the fridge afterwards, just so that it would stiffen. (my buttercream always seems to have that curdled look, and not stiff at all! does anyone have any tips?)

after wards i decorated, and let them sit for the night. tons of people like them, even when i thought they could be better! however, i will probably look for a different recipe. i will still use the icings though!

enjoy!
